Laptop not booting.

Toshiba laptop not booting, windows 8.cant get into safe mode, shift and F2 got it to the screen trying to load, but nah black screen again. Its getting power. Its been trying to get me to download W10 all week, which i havent gone near. Hope it hasnt done so automatically and left me with a mess lol, any ideas.Thanks.

You don't say what model Toshiba, but maybe try this:

Start the computer by pressing the power button - IMMEDIATELY start tapping the F12 key on the keyboard until the "Boot Menu" screen appears.
Using the arrow keys, select and press "Enter".
On the next screen you are asked to confirm if you want to contiue with recovery. Select "Yes".
The computer will bring you to the Advanced startup screen.
Select Troubleshoot.
Select Advanced options.
Select Startup settings.
Press Restart.
Select Safe Mode from the list

Done the F12 thing no boot menu appeared, it took me to the password log in screen and we are up and running again. Thanks kew, will see how we go at this stage its saved me a trip to the tech boys.
