geek_zephyrheavenJuly 21, 2008, 8:41 pm#1
Cursor is possesed by satan why is my cursor moving around by itself now and then? just got a new mousepad in the weekend - but that wouldnt be it? its a genius brand spankin mouse too
geek_1clickawayJuly 21, 2008, 8:43 pm#2
Optical Mouse Huh? they tend to be 'floaty' on shiny surfaces; Try it on a black card or darker smooth surface :D
geek_charles.jJuly 21, 2008, 8:44 pm#3
does it move to anywhere specific? does it move when your net is disconnected?
geek_charles.jJuly 21, 2008, 8:46 pm#4
either thator the mouse is just being plain irritating
geek_zephyrheavenJuly 21, 2008, 8:47 pm#5
Dang it is a shiney wetsuit style pad (black) and no, when disconnected it didnt seem to move for that few seconds? bizzare
geek_zephyrheavenJuly 21, 2008, 8:48 pm#6
Usually wanders to the left? which is odd and very erratic btw
geek_charles.jJuly 21, 2008, 8:49 pm#7
Lol sorry. i was just being a bit over the top. i was getting to the fact that someone might have hijacked your pc. However i bet its just he shiny surface or something simple
geek_zephyrheavenJuly 21, 2008, 8:50 pm#8
Oh ha ha yeah, hmm - so why would they sell a product thats no good for what its designed for? weird
geek_1clickawayJuly 21, 2008, 8:52 pm#9
The Shiny surface is possibly the 'satan' ; Genius brand is a 'knock' off of the good optical brands; They tend to 'float' even on the best of surfaces: Just try a dark piece of paper; And see if that helps :D
geek_zephyrheavenJuly 21, 2008, 8:54 pm#10
Waaaaa but i spent $25.00 on this lousy mouspad?
geek_wogadopolousJuly 21, 2008, 8:55 pm#11
I never use mouse pads Always found they move around under my wrist too much or get in the way at inopportune times while gaming. Zeph, I recommend you let some air out of the tyres on the right hand side, should sort out that demonic creep
geek_zephyrheavenJuly 21, 2008, 8:56 pm#12
Re 11 arrrgggggghhhh ha ha, is this yet another recall for DSE? lol - and as usual, trustin ol me turfed the reciept so i cant go back and leap up and down
geek_kylea_damienJuly 21, 2008, 9:26 pm#13
Go to Mouse settings And disable pointer precision. I find all my mice do this till i disable this.
geek_cadifanJuly 21, 2008, 9:58 pm#14
Occasionally mine kinda tiptoes towards the left like it's sneaking over there or something, not too often tho'.
geek_drcspyJuly 21, 2008, 10:24 pm#15
Optical mice dont really need a 'pad' just a good surface.......a shiny surface may not be ideal
geek_allymayJuly 21, 2008, 10:36 pm#16
Woot g5 FTW
geek_matthew_129July 22, 2008, 10:17 am#17
Zephyour mouse is shotI see it every now and again at work here. Go get your self a good logitech one or PM me your address on the otherside and ill send you one of the spares ive got floating around here.
geek_mustang23July 22, 2008, 11:06 am#18
I had the same symptoms you are experiencing with a Logitech MX1000 Cordless mouse. The fix, was somewhat simple. Turns out I had somehow inadvertently changed the USB Polling frequency. Google those words and you'll get an abundance of results, and a fix. Alternatively, plug it into a PS/2 adapter, and the issue disappears.
geek_zephyrheavenJuly 22, 2008, 4:20 pm#19
Hmmm how can it be shot - its only a week or so old? its not cordless its just optical with a thingy to plug into the old timey mouse port on my old clunky pc? as for mustangs fix - dood, i can turn this thing on and off - thats it LOL
geek_julieandcasperJuly 22, 2008, 6:18 pm#20
I never use a mousepad either. I have a nice, brown, woven cloth place mat that came in a set and only cost me a couple bucks (the rest are on the table). Works great on wandering mice. Mine hasn't wandered since.
geek_zephyrheavenJuly 22, 2008, 6:22 pm#21
SOD IT well, its true - its the mousepad. right im going to roll it up and use it to slap one of the pinheaded D&D nitwits behind the counter at dork smythe
geek_pcgeekJuly 23, 2008, 12:58 pm#22
I had erratic movements on an optical mouse awhile back, turned out to be a hair up near the lense under the mouse...
geek_sighkickJuly 23, 2008, 1:02 pm#23
Mousepads are for the old fashioned Roller ball type meeces!
geek_mustang23July 23, 2008, 1:36 pm#24
Re:23 Unless you're a gamer, in which you want a mat which is not going to cause friction or drag ;)
geek_zephyrheavenJuly 23, 2008, 7:32 pm#25
The mats good for wrist its got one of those gel pads, and the rustic ass desk is no good for a mouse surface
