Someone want to design a website for nix?

geek_snuzalJuly 21, 2008, 7:19 pm#1
Someone want to design a website for nix? LOL. I have the domain, and hosting acct. Just want a very basic website, with home page, and contact page. I can do all the content and stuff, but just don't have time to do all the layup and actual designing at the mo..
geek_snuzalJuly 21, 2008, 7:22 pm#2
Yes im sure ill get shot down by some, but no harm in asking!!
geek_dunedin_reeJuly 21, 2008, 7:24 pm#3
Nope. I don't wanna do it, but there are plenty of free templates out there that would require only very basic modification (change banner etc) to make it yours.
geek_soodanimJuly 21, 2008, 7:24 pm#4

Ive tried free templates and shyte like that, but can never seem to get them into html format if that makes sense. i know very very basic html, but designing does my head in. did a website totally from scratch once, it was so basic, and before i even knew WYSIWYG editors were avaliable lol.

Or, perhaps just set up wordpress on your host. It's pizz easy to do and there are so many free templates. Many that don't even make your site look like a blog. Easy editing.

Creating a web site Hi, I would like to have a web site created for community purpose. People would be able to log in and chat about their projects , their community, recommend traders, barter etc...Any one able to help re this and give me an idea of the cost please.with thanks
geek_soodanimJuly 24, 2008, 7:42 am#18
Phpbb is a free forumthere are others but I found that one good and they have their own forum for help and suggestions. Costs can vary, Domain names and hosting from overseas can be cheaper, I've not tried as I prefer NZ based for support so I use webbase (www.webbase.co.nz) cost start at $7.95 per month for hosting (and they have a control panel that will install PHPBB for you) and the domains name registration is $30 per year. But you can probably also try free hosts but some have too much advertising or they limit the bandwidth too much
geek_bmlbJuly 24, 2008, 7:49 am#19
Thank you Soodanim Will contact them
geek_bmlbJuly 24, 2008, 3:41 pm#20
PhpBB Went on their web site and created a profile etc... I understand that I am able to create a forum for free online. All this sounds Greek to me.Do I also have to register for a domain name and hosting too? This web site will be for our community and the forum is just what we need, pretty exited about it, but may not be able to move on since it looks like crossing the north pole for me..Could you help me to go further with easy words...?
geek_malarkyJuly 24, 2008, 4:36 pm#21
Whats your contact detials I can help out for for free and set it up etc.
geek_soodanimJuly 24, 2008, 4:46 pm#22
Malarky you know contact details are against the rules....bit unfair to suggest they put their here!
geek_malarkyJuly 24, 2008, 4:48 pm#23
True. Good point. Man I hate that rule, I would suppose that having the odd contact details down wont hurt anyone.
geek_papariccardoJuly 24, 2008, 4:52 pm#24
Malarky had helped me plenty with my new site and I would gladly recommend him. Dunno how he is gonna feed himself with his "website for nix" policy. Cheap hosting, too. Shame I have no listings, or you could contact me via that & I could pass on his details. FWIW, I had my number down on my profile for 12mths, never got pulled. Took it down on my own accord when I reread the TM T&Cs.
