Remote Desktop Connection & Eset Security Suite?
| geek_jmpcwiz | July 27, 2008, 8:40 pm | #1 | | Remote Desktop Connection & Eset Security Suite?!! I've been using this setup for ages: http://tinyurl.com/5o9hde (standard WinXP remote connection setup for local network) Everything had been working perfectly, but ever since I installed ESET (Nod32) Security Suite 3.0.x.x. I cannot have people remote desktop my computer through the network! Anyone else who has had this problem? Ive gone over all the settings, spent all night trying different things, and getting annoying. Yes ive googled. Argh! Seems that the ESS is blocking it, and tried disabling it but you cant fully disable it unless you uninstall it. Mucked around with ESS firewall settings which hasnt helped. I can send out Remote Desktop, but people cannot connect it. Any Ideas? | |

| geek_jmpcwiz | July 27, 2008, 9:20 pm | #3 | | Lol tried thatdidnt work :( Found from google from someone saying to uninstall and wipe ESET off the system, and during the new fresh install, set the firewall to interactive straight away, and then wait for the pop up, rather having it set to 'automatic'. However, atm, not too keen on reinstalling. |

| geek_jmpcwiz | July 27, 2008, 9:38 pm | #5 | | Tried that along those linessetting everything to defaults and deleting the rules. I just get Allow/Deny warnings then for FF or MSN etc. Nothing for my remote desktop. Sharing is set for allowed and can share over the network. Everything for Remote Desktop is ticked for 'allowed' but still doesnt work. I guess the true test will be to uninstall ESS and see if the remote desktop connection will work lol. Maybe one day i'll do that when I have the time. RDC,RPC is not too important but something I like to use occasionally. |
